Jason alerted me to a potential confusion point as to how Aerotronics wires up tach sensors. He called me last week to give me the heads up. So, today I metered out the tach sensor wires on the GEA 24 harness:
J243 pin 7 GRD, W/B wire will go to BLK on old tach sensor (AFS BLK) J243 pin 8 RPM signal, W/O wire will go to BLUE on old tach sensor (AFS W/G) J243 pin 9 +12v, WHT wire will go to RED on old tach sensor (AFS W/O)
When I wired up old AFS system, I used the tach lead that Barrett had put in R Mag because it is a bear to get to without taking mag off. Worked fine. Will check with Jason to see if I can use the existing, installed tach lead rather than the new one from Garmin.
Update: AFS sensor is 5V and Garmin is 12V. Jason not sure if 5V sensor will work... seems that some on installs it does. I think I will try to rotate R mag and install proper 12V Garmin sensor.
