Brief Description:  GP first flight; clear squawks

.93 test run and flight. Over to Pinchot practice area. up to 4500 for some air work, practice turns, descents and climbs. temps all good. CHTs may be a bit low...high 200's..oil temp was about 175. Kept EGTs in low 1300s. May try closing oil cooler door next time. Trim good, radios good.

Battery voltage was good at mid to high power settings, but dropped some on low power (10-13"). Gave VR #1 one full turn CW to up charging rate. Will fly and adjust. B&C manual says 1/2 turn for each .1 volt adjustment. Shoot for 26-27v per Duncan.

Put AFS 4500 on six pack mode for first couple of flights. Just trying to eliminate variables. Worked fine.

Clear squawks:

Pulled top cowling and looked over FWF real well

slight oil leak showing up at exhaust tunnel. Looks like filter may not be quite tight enough. Checked all B nuts on hoses at remote filter and snugged down filter with a wrench. only 1/4 quart of so low. Re-saftied filter

checked brake fluid....all good.

Turned volume to zero on VP warning annuciators....getting a lot of false alarms which were quite distracting.. Will fine tune settings moving ahead and then turn volume back up and re-instate any alarrms turned off in the device menu.

Angie wiped down surfaces for bugs - Simple Green - Aircraft. She also polished spinner with Brasso.

Needed a fair amount of rudder trim to center ball...about .6" left deflection...that is about half scale right on the EFIS. Duncan suggested I look at the aileron trim in flight to make sure the rudder adjustment is not masking an aileron trim issue. Good thought...will do next time
