Brief Description:  plan out oil drain access door ala Bill H

Took some pics last night of the engine down at my house - see pics of 2/3/11 in build pic file. Tried to get the measurements necessary as to where the oil drain is. Today, pulled the lower cowl down from the loft and tried to lay out where I figure the drain is. Think I have a plan.

First will lay up a 4 BID 9x9" (to reinforce door panel)
then trim the door size down (5x5") leaving 4 small tabs to hold in place.
then release tape just on the door
Then apply a 8x8" 4 BID...this will create a 1 inch flange.
Then trim out door and then flange to 1"; followed by skybolt install.
Thanks to IV builder Bill Harrelson for the idea.

Going to use 4 Skybolt fasteners; one on each corner.

This will allow draining of the oil without removing the lower cowl, which while not hard, is a bit of a hassle and creates oppty to bang up the cowling. If quick drain is hard to reach from the door access, will attach a hose to the drain and zip tie in place under the cowl... I think it will be reachable though.
