Brief Description:  pitot-static-encoder-altimeter test

After spending a week educating and negotiating with the avionics guy on field, Wayne Haubert showed up to do the test. Nice enough guy, but he was hung up on "certifying the encoder as TSO'd" which is what he normally does, but it not required for EAB. He did all the tests in accordance with 91.411, 91.413 and 91.217, and Part 43 Appendix E just like he would normally, but changed his sign off as to not be "certifying as TSO'd. All good to me.

He had trouble putting the static source into the pitot tube to equalize pressure... he suspected a kinked or big leak in pitot line. I was fearfull it was in the connection in the wing root. So, I pulled the glareshield and slid the EFIS out to cut the pitot line and connect his line directly to it at the back of the EFIS. That worked for him. I then installed a tee with a cap on the third leg. Will troubelshoot rest of line tomorrow.

Wayne noted that the backup altimeter read good to about 10,000 feet then got goofy..like 40000 at 20000.

Put panel and glareshield back together.

Backed up EFIS system software, and upgraded AFS 4500 to v 8.6.22. Loaded new map files.

Sorted hardware during down times in whole process.
