Brief Description:  Consoles

Yes I know I'm building consoles very early in the project, however this is MUCH easier to do before the Gear and strakes are done. Right now I have the convenience of working from several heights and angles for doing so. I'm also taking this opportunity to customize the console dimensions and cutouts for more practical purposes. In the Plans, Rutan has you shape the seat belt cutouts fairly large which I find unnecessary and a little too exposing of the control rods, wires, and whatever else will go through the right side armrest. Instead of 5" I went with 4.5" to keep the hole a little less obvious. >
For the passenger it's even worse as Rutan wants you to "leave room" for the "custom suitcases" that are in the plans. No offense to Burt, but these cases are highly impractical in todays age. Heck, I don't remember the last time I saw a 2" suitcase being used. Instead I am lengthening the passenger armrests all the way up to the front seat which does 2 important things: One, it covers all the wires and control rods from the passengers wandering feet and second it's MUCH more pleasing to the eyes. I'm sure more benefits will show these extensions very useful... more to come.
