Brief Description: Drilled the Front Spar of the Vertical Stabilizer
I removed the VS from the fuselage. After removing the excess material from the ends of the upper longerons that were preventing the VS from seating flush to the F-812B, I re-attached the VS to the fuselage. I re-checked the levels side to side and fore and aft several times before drilling the front spar of the VS to the F-884 Attachment Plate and F-885 Spacer. To rectify the short front spar of the VS relative to the Attachment plate, I moved the lower row of rivet holes 1/4" up from the upper edge of the pre-drilled holes vs the center of the holes. This gives me more than enough edge distance from the pre-drilled holes and maintains the transitional pattern of rivet holes. This was the determination of a aircraft structure mechanic friend who is building an RV-7A.
