Brief Description:  Removed the Mechanical Aileron Stops

Removed the Mechanical Aileron Stops on each wing after removing the flaps. The stops had been riveted to the aileron mounting bracket during the first wing fitting. They were installed per the plans to limit the travel of the ailerons. The problem is that they were installed incorrectly. The maximum up deflection is 35 up and 17 degessa down. This is measured from the neutral position of the aileron. When re-checking these measurements, the readings were not quite right. I suspect that at the time of installation, I set the stops at 35 degrees and 17 degrees actual but not relative to the aileron's neutral positions. A simpler way that many have used to set the correct aileron limits is to install a 1/2" nylon or delron spacer on the top aileron hinge bolt, next to the aileron control tube. When the aileron moves, the spacer hits the aileron mounting brace at angles within the ranges of the aileron limits. After installing nylon spacers measuring 1/2" diameter x 3/8" wide with a 3/16" (0.197") center hole, the limits measured 35 degrees and 17 degrees.
