Brief Description:  Attached TNC Connector For G430W GPS

Attached TNC Connector For G430W GPS antenna to the RG-400 coax cable. Tested the reception of the G-430W while in the shop but was unable to capture any signals. This is what I expected but just wanted to try.

Changed the flat washers on the ADS-B broadcast antenna and the Transponder antenna to star washers. This makes a better contact with the aircraft skin for the ground plane.

Tested the the SL-40 Com, Audio Panel and headset jacks. The intercom side tone from the Audio panel worked well. I put a BNC Connector on the SL-40 Com Antenna RG-400 coax cable and temporarily attached the cable to a Com whip antenna. I held the antenna attachment stud against a airframe bolt and attained the necessary grounding so that I was able to receive my first tansmissions. Each success is so gratifying.

I located some 0.125" aluminum and some stainless steel sheet. The aluminum will be used to fabricate rudder pedal extensions. The extensions have been discussed on VansAirforce forums. These extension decrease the chance of applying inadvertent brakes while applying rudder during taxiing resulting in overheated brakes and increased risk of brake fires. The stainless steel will be used to patch holes in the firewall that I won't be needing.
