Brief Description:  Cut and Epoxied the Tips Trailing Edges

Cut and Epoxied the Tips Trailing Edges in order to improve the tips alignment with the ailerons. Both Tips had some degree of twist or droop.

There were several learning oportunities. First, I used a HF Oscillating Cutter to make the dividing cuts in the trailing edges and along the aft sides about 18 inches running forward. Two problems I had with this tool is that I was not able to make as straight a cut line as I had hoped to make. It was not pretty. I believe that I could have done better with a thin Dremel cutting disk. The control would have been better and the gap not as wide. I now belive that a straigt cut vs jagged cut would have helped with the approximating of the edges during the re-setting of the tip alignment.

The biggest problem that I had resetting the tip positions was from the use of West System 205 Harder. This is a fast hardener and gives about 21 minutes of pot time at 70 degrees before it cooks off. The problem was that it was in the 90s and the epoxy would cook off in 6-8 minutes. I was very rushed especially during this first experience with glassing. In my attempts to set the tips position, I had epoxy in the gap al well as outside the gap. My attempt to use a strip of glass in the gap was more difficult then one would think. The gap was small and and the glass wanted to move or not lay down where I wanted it. I used painters' tape on the exterior to mold the epoxy that escaped during clamping. Straight edges were used to to clamp the edges in alignment.
