Brief Description:  Opened the Rt Flap Control Rod Hole

Opened the Rt Flap Control Rod Hole in the fuselage. I actually opened the hole quite a bit, especially towards the outboard side of the fuselage, but I stll had a problem with the rod clearing the edge of the hole during the flap actuation. The rod end bearing with the stud that attaches to the flap plate needed some spacer washers to move the rod more inboard and away from the outboard side of the hole. The problem is that with the nut that is installed to hold the rod bearing to the mounting plate barely shows the needed one thread of the stud. What the setup really needs is a thin nut so that I can install the extra washer and still get the right number of thread visible past the nut. I found that nut in the Aircraft Spruce catalog. Then while looking at the plans I noticed that this same thin nut number was the nut called out for use behind the mounting plate. I had put a AN365-428 in place when I should have used the thin nut AN365-428.

I looked for this thin nut in my suppied hardware list. I could not find any listed. It so happened that my Finishing Kit did have 2 of the right nuts. Also, when I received the shipment, the bag with the nuts was missing some hardware and Van's sent me a complete replacement bag. Therefore, I had the serendipity of having extra AN364-428 nuts at the right time. I'll change them tomorrow.
