Brief Description: Aligned the Ailerons in Neutral Trail Position
Aligned the Ailerons in Neutral Trail Position. I attached an aluminum strip that had a centerline drawn upon it to the outside wing rib utilizing the machine holes that align with the wings centerline. The ailerons were adjusted by disconnecting the the aileron control rod and turning the rod end bearing until the aileron trailing edge aligned with the line drawn on the aluminum strip.
There was a lesson learned. The aluminum strip holes did not line up exactly with the rib machining holes. Therefore, some alignment variability was introduced to the measurement because the strip could be inconsistently mounted to the rib. I slightly elongated one of the holes in line with the center of the strip to ease the insertion of the bolts. Now the strip can be mounted to the rib with consistancy and the alignment measurements were repeatable on both wings.
