Brief Description:  Installed a Latch In the Oil Door

Installed a Latch In the Oil Door. This required creating a latch template, transferring the opening to the door then slowly shaping the latch opening to fit the latch. Because of the varying thicknesses of the cowling and the inside of the door, there was a challenge to fitting the latch to the door. I installed a invisible oil door hinge on the inside on the top edge of the oil door opening. This hinge is spring loaded to push the door open once the latch is released. After the hinge was in place, I drilled the door to the hinge while the door was held in place over the hinge. After drilling the door to the hinge, then latching the door closed, it became apparent that the varing insde thickness of the door made the once flush aft edges of the door stick up above the aft edge of the cowl oil door opening. This would need to be refined. But for now, it was at least functional. I now had an oil access door.
