Brief Description: Creating Cowling Oil Access Door
Creating Cowling Oil Access Door. Cut a 6" x 6" opening in the cowling over the oil dip stick and oil filler tube. I intend to use the removed piece of cowling as the door. As an alternative, if this cowling pice does not work out as a door for some reason, I will fashion an aluminum plate as a door instead.
To hold the door flush with the surface of the cowling, I drilled some small holes for lock wire loops that where used to hold some dowels in place. These dowels and some tape worked well together for the purpose. At least four layers of glass were layed under the door on the inside of the cowling after the usual precautions were made to prevent the sticking of the glass to the door.
