Brief Description: Applied Microballoon Slurry to Empennage Fairings
Applied Microballoon Slurry to Empennage Fairings. After about 6 hours, I shaved the microballoon slurry with a 4" Stanley hand planner often referred to as a "Cheese Grater". This worked well to remove some of the excess slurry, resulting in a fairly smoothed surface to start the sanding process. The nice part is that a good portion of the slurry was removed as nice little curls of material instead of the dust generated by sanding. Sanded the fairings with 80 grit sand paper.
Applied a layer of Awl Fair to the rudder bottom fairing. Trying this to see how well it sands and fills pin holes.
