Riveted the Lt flap together. Fabricating and assembly of the flap actuator bracket cause me greater concern and anguish then the task should have caused. The three pieces need to fit well together and the only time to discover any problems is during or after final assembly.
Needed to grind a taper in an end of my back riveting bucking plate so that I could get into the tight space at the rear of the flap on the inboard end. This end of the flap has excess skin that prevents the use of usual bucking bars or squeezers.
An example of one problem was the final riveting of the end ribs to the skins. By the directions, this riveting is completed after the actuator bracket is in place. In reality, the riveting of the skins to the inboard rib needs to be completed, or nearly completed, prior to attaching the bracket. Otherwise, the bracket blocks access for bucking the rivets behind the bracket. I discovered this after attaching the bracket and had to remove the bracket and complete the rib riveting before re-attaching the bracket.
