Brief Description:  Drilled & Riveted Skybolt Brackets to the Firewall

Drilled and Riveted Skybolt Brackets to the Firewall. Installed some temporary milled inserts into several of the brackets using tape on the backside to hold the inserts in the bracket holes. These inserts are used to be able to cleco the cowling in place on the brackets as the cowling in fit to the firewall. They allow you to accurately place the cowling on the firewall each time. Drilled the holes in the cowling using the inserts for the match drilling. Clecoed the cowling using the inserts.

Earlier, I had maked a line on the forward top skin using a piece of stock 3" aluminum strip about 12" long. One edge was placed on the firewall edge and the other edge on the forward top skin was marked with a line. Now, I place the aluminum strip on the forwad top skin line and drew a line on the cowling. This is now the cut line for trimming the cowling to the firewall. Care was exercised to mark the angle change at the upper lingeron line intersection on the firewall.
