Brief Description:  Started to Position the Skybolt Fastener Brackets

Started to Position the Skybolt Fastener Brackets that will attach the cowling to the firewall. The new brackets are nice in that they interlock at the suggested 3" spacing interval for the fasteners. By interlocking the overlapping tabs, the spacing is achieved and arrangement of the brackets is fairly easy. I arranged the brackets so that there is one on each side of the centerline split on the top of the cowling. From there, I adjusted the placement slightly to get the best fit of the upper corner brackets that needed alterations in order to fit in the space between the firewall and the engine mount. It is here that the space is tight and there is a pulled rivet already in place. The bracket needed to be altered to slip around the rivet when it was positioned. While placing the brackets, it became apparent that the coolant reservoir was too high on the firewall to be able to remove the cap with the cowling fastener system in place. The reservoir needed to be moved.
