Brief Description:  Fit the Cowling Halves to the Prop Disc and Firewa

Fit the Cowling Halves to the Prop Disc and Firewall. I cut a 1/4" spacer out of 1/4" MDF sheet and cut a 6.25" in the center of the board. The sheet was then split in half so that a half could be attached to each of the faces of the cowling halve. I tried to center the drawn 13.5" outer ring on the outside of the cowl face prop flange. Screwed the spacers to the prop flanges on the cowl face. Positioning the right cowl half against the prop disc with the prop disc arc matching the arc of the cowl half with the spacer now in between the prop disc and the formed cowl flange. the face of the cowl flanges are wavy and don't match the aft surface of the prop disc. This will need to be fixed in the future. With the Prop disc and the cowling flange matching, I pulled the aft edge of the cowling taut on the firewall edge, drilled matching holes with the firewall rivet holes and inserted clecoes to hold the cowl in place. The Right side would not mold around the lower firewall corner due to a huge amount of excess material buckling on the bottom centerline where the halves meet at the oil cooler opening. This part of the cowling will require major surgery to get a fit! Similarly, the left cowl halve had excess material on the bottom midline but the aft owl edge did mold better around the lower aft corner. Like the right cowl half, the left cowl half will need major surgeries and an extended stay in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit as it heals from the many wounds. Overall, this cowling that I purchased from Jan Eggenfellner to match the Radiators, is a true piece of crap! A waste of good money for a very poor product. The glass is starved in many areas and there is no Nomex Honeycomb sandwich layup on the interior surface to give the cowling lightweight stiffness. This will be fixed also after the cowling fits properly.
