Brief Description:  Installed "SeaDog SS Hatch Spring" Door Stay

Installed "SeaDog SS Hatch Spring" Door Stay on the Forward Baggage Compartment Door. The spring works quite well to hold the door open and there is a stell cable inside the spring to prevent over-extension of the door in wind. Length is 8 3/4" long mounted.

The spring is attached to the door 4-5" up the door edge. This worked out to be the forth rivet up from the bottom. I opened up the center of the attachment hasp to fit over the rivet head. The holes in the hasp are too large for a LP4-3 so I inserted a scrap piece of 0.035" aluminum over the holes, drilled the attachment holes and then riveted the hasp to the door. The Firewall attachment is placed about 4" forward of the door attachment hasp in the open position. Mine is slightly further away due to interference from the coolant reservoir mounted on the firewall. I had to re-do my first attachment point because the door's rib hit the firewall attachment before being fully closed. Dropped it down the distance of one of the screw hole, drilled a new lower screw hole and pluged the old top hole with a #8 screw. Door stay works very well.
