Brief Description: Removed Rudder and Vertical Stabilizer
Removed Rudder and Vertical Stabilizer. Loosened the Horizontal Stabilizer. All this to have access to the holes that were left open from riveting so that the holes could be used for attaching the bottom gap seal of the Horizontal Stabilizer. The problem is that the instructions to tap the holes for #6 screw was either missed or were missing from the instructions (ARRRGH!!!). The holse for the attachment were drilled to #36 size then taped to #6 threads. The Empennage was then reassembled. I test fit the aluminum strip that will hold a rubber seal in the gap. It isn't going to work with my modification of the empennage fairing. The strip uses a screw hole that I didn't install because it is unneeded with my modified empennage fairing. Other then that, I will reconsider the use of the aluminum strip and the rubber gap seal but I am again leaning towards just making my own fiberglass fairing for the bottom of the Horizontal Stabilizer.
