Brief Description: Trim Fitted the Large Empennage Fairing
Trim Fitted the Large Empennage Fairing. I like the rough fit. The front of the fairing that curves under the Horizontal Stabilizer is about 1/4-3/8" forward of the Stabilizer. I could trim the top of the fairing where it meets the Vertical Stailizer and the fairing should move aft and fit the Horizontal Stabilizer. But I like the fit of the fairing overall as it lays. I am going to alter the curve around the HS to make it fit. It seems to be the only part that does not fit the way I like. I am currently reassess my desire to fabricate a lower fairing from fiberglass. It may be easier to just follow the plans, particularly since the top fairing seems to be fitting so well from the start. But my inclination is towards making the lower fairing if not only for the experience.
