Brief Description:  Sanded Rudder Bottom Fairing

Sanded Rudder Bottom Fairing to shape the now cured microballoon epoxy slurry. Last evening, about 6 hours after applying the slurry, I used a "Cheese Grater" small Stanley hand planer to remove a good portion of the slurry. The results was a coursely smoothed surface ready for sanding with some 80 grit sand paper in about another 12 hours. This was a great suggestion that I acquired from Dan Horton's great fiberglass tutorials located within the Forums of VansAirforce. The fairing is now ready for a small bit of sanding with the 80 grit then on to some sanding with 120 grit paper.

I covered half of the top grid with a part of a cardboard box to increase the box effectiveness while working on small parts. This seems to have been a good idea. The down draft box is working well to pull the fine dust down. Running the HF Whole Shop Dust Vacuum as the vacuum source for the downdraft box has the added benefit of being quieter than the ShopVac by several orders of magnitude. This is a much appreciated benefit.
