Brief Description:  Connected GPS Serial Output to the ELT

Connected GPS Serial Output to the ELT. Tim from Approach FastStacks made me a new configurator plug for the Avionics Hub that has a wire for GPS Serial output from the GNS 430W. This data is fed to the ACK ELT so that it can report GPS position when activated. A four conductor 22 ga. cable had been run forward to the aft panel area during installation of the ELT in the aft fuselage. The cable was cut to the length need just aft of the instrument panel. I separated the GPS Data wire from the cable and connected it to the GPS Serial output wire from the Hub. D-sub pins and shrink tubing was used to secure the connections. The power and ground wires were spliced to a piece of cable that was cut off in the aft panel area. The shield was soldered back together and the hole spliced area was covered with dual walled shrink tubing. The cable was routed to the area of the EIS System Terminal where there is a unused power tab that can be utilized. The ground and shield can be grounded there or at the firewall Forrest of Tabs Ground.
