Brief Description: Installed Mic and Headphone Jacks
Installed Mic and Headphone Jacks. I had to look all over the internet for a source of information for how to install these jacks. I knew that there is a particular way of doing it to avoid problems with noise and jack function failures. There is a flanged insulating washer, a flat insulating disc, a metal washer and a nut for the installation. Apparently, the flanged insulating washer goes on the threaded portion of the jack first to prevent the threaded portion of the jack from contacting the aircraft metal. The jack is inserted into the drilled hole. The insulating flat disc is installed followed by the metal washer and then the nut is installed. I drilled the headphone hole to 1/4" and the mic hole to 7/16". These sizes allowed the flanged washers to fit into the holes.
