Brief Description: Put Shells on the Magnetometer D-Dub Connectors
Put Shells on the Magnetometer D-Dub Connector after considering my options for securing the connectors to the magnetometers. With the two brass screws that secure the magnetometers to the aft deck limiting the choices of hardware that could be used to secure the connectors, I could insert screws but I am not able to use shellbacks on the connectors. I called GRT for suggestions. They suggested #4-40 x 3/8" to secure the stress relieved connectors without the shellbacks. The screws I obtained were too long at 3/8". I changed the brass screws in front of the connectors to a shorter 1" length and only directly secure the bottom magnetometer. I kept the longer screws to secure both magnetometers on the front side. On the lateral sides, I used some excess velcro to connect the two together. The left side velcro serves also to secure the magnetometer bundles. With the shorter aft screws, there is no problems with the use of the connector shellbacks to secure the connectors.
