Brief Description:  Powered up the Vertical Power System

Powered up the Vertical Power System. I talked to Marc Ausman from Vertical Power at Sun 'N Fun. He suggested that I check the plug wares for continuity. This I have done using my buzz tester. He suggested that I next power up the system to check to see that the components work. This was done by connecting power from the battery to the Vertical Power Control Unit via the Essential Power wire coming directly off of the Positive Terminal of the battery. This is the wire that has an inline fuse installed. I put the fuse in the holder just before powering the sytem up. I connected the cable comming off of the rear ground terminal to the negative post of the battery. Since the VP CU grounds are connected to this terminal, I now had a complete circuit.

I connected the two serial cables from the CU to the Display Unit (DU) and the Switch Panel (SP). This completed the connections. All that was needed was for me to push the green button. After a moment, with anticipation, I did. The green light glowed, the individual swithch lights flashed and the red light glowed. But the main Display Unit remained dark! I thought something was wrong. But after several seconds, the screen came to life with the startup system check list page and all the system checks showed PASSED! I had a working backbone electrical system hooked up and powered up! What remains is to connect the individual components as I install them and to program the system.
