Brief Description: Had the Propeller Dynamically Balanced
Had the Propeller Dynamically Balanced. Fabricated a mounting bracket that attached to the forward side of the golden galanized plate using one of the bolts that attaches the plate to the engine block. The mount extends toward the engine cenrterline where a vertical sensor was attached using a screw.
Held the aircraft in place with the aid of my truck and a tow strap.
The propeller was fairly smooth from the initial readings, showing an Inches Per Second (IPS) reading of just over 1.0, the minimal acceptable reading. After adding two small washers to the crews that attach the nose cone, the IPS dropped to 0.06 @ 2658 RPM and to 0.03 IPS @ 2200 RPM (Cruise Speed RPM). Ther continues to be some chatter at and near the set idle speed of 700 RPM. My Subaru newsgroup members are reporting that this is not unusual and that I should run a high idle speed to avoid any chatter.
