Brief Description:  Called Van's and talked to Joe about fat cable run

Called Van's and talked to Joe about fat cable run. Altering the cable run to the midline is a good idea and bulkhead holes for cable runs are not an issue as long as edge distances are maintained. I altered the route to pass the cable through the floor ribs and through a hole drilled in the left side of midline of the F-807 bulkhead. A SB750-10 snap bushing was inserted into this hole. Pieces of 1/2" O.D. vinyl tube was put over the cable for wear prevention where the cable passes through the lightening holes. Adel clamps were used to secure the tubing and cable to the ribs. Nylon Edging Grommet strips were placed on the lightening hole edges.

Interestingly, he mentioned the conflict between the left rudder cable and its rubbing on the step support tube. The plans call for putting HMWP tape on the tube to prevent rubbing of the cable on the tube. He suggested laying the tube on a flat solid surface and hammering an indentation in the tube in the area in conflict with the rudder cable. I asked about using a steel pipe as a former of the indentation and he said that would be good. Joe said "Surprisingly, the dent won't affect the function or strength of the step support." I marked the area to be dented for future use.
