Brief Description:  Can't attach Lt Flap because of edge distance

Can't attach Lt Flap because of edge distance. With the -3 hinge, I only had 3/16" instead of 3/8" needed.
Also, the inboard forward edge of the flap was hitting on a lower bucked rivet from the fourth rib. I tried bending the forward edge of the flap with some success but I wanted to talk to Van's before I continued the bending. Looking from inboard to outboard, the forward edge of the flap was not in a straight line with the row of the flap brace rivets on the spar. There was an untwisting of the edge from outboard towards the inboard. The inboard edge needed some bending to increase the curvature so that the edge would miss rubbing on the rivet.
Another effect of hitting on the rivet, when I attempted to even the trailing edge of the flap with the aileron which was in a neutral position, the inboard wing hinge edge would push further aft then the clamped position. This pushed the flap out of ailment with the aileron and decreased the edge distance further.
I had to solve two problems. Increase the edge distance on the wing flap hinge and second, get the flap to clear the rivet on the spar.
From internet research, I found that I needed to replace my wing flap hinge with a MS20257-4 hinge. This larger hinge is interchangeable in the -3 hinge so I could mix and match them without problems. I ordered one from ACS and had it two days later. The shipping was more expensive then the part, but the hinge did solve the problem nicely. One six foot hinge was all that was needed because I used one half on each wing.
From talking to Van's, it was OK to bend the edge as necessary to clear the rivet. This I did and the problem was solved. Looking down the spar, I now see the flap edge in better alignment with the flap brace rivets. Other suggestions were to cut a notch in the flap adge to clear the rivet, replace the coffending rivet with a flush rivet, or replace the rivet with a universal head rivet to get a lower profile.
Attached and set the Lt aileron push-pull tubes using the alignment t
