Brief Description:  Flew First Long Cross Country Flight

Flew First Long Cross Country Flight to Knoxville, KY. The flight was an attempt to fly up to Connecticut to attend an important birthday party. The weather along the east coast was poor for the flight. Late in the morning, after searching for alternatives, I found the weather adequate if I flew up west of the Smokey Mountains then towards the east through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and into Connecticut. Additionally, the map reload did not improve the map displaying of the GRT EFISs. I thought I had the data for the entire U.S. downloaded from Seattle Avionics. In fact, I only had three States surrounding home base. Without the display maps, the flight just became a bit more complicated. The decision to fly ho
