Brief Description:  Installed Wing Fuselage Gap Channel Seal

Installed Wing Fuselage Gap Channel Seal using some 3M Yellow gasket adhesive per the recommendation of another Builder. If was a great idea but the adhesive did not really seem to adhere well to the seal. I had cleaned the channel with acetone prior to adding adhesive to the channel and inserting the fairing into the channel. The installation looks good after the installation but was not a simple installation. With the gap seal on the fairing, the fairing needed to be gently twisted as it transitioned around the leading edge of the wing. It is a tight maneuver. Time will tell if the adhesive successfully helps retain the gap seal.

As it would be, I was talking to a Midget Mustang Builder about my gap seal installation using the 3M Yellow. He showed me some 3M 5000 Black Adhesive, Quick set version, that he used to attach his gap seal. He showed me how strong this adhesive is at several of the locations that he used it. I seems to be a very strong adhesive. From what I saw, thi may be the better choice for adhesives to retain the gap seal. Should the seal loosen up, I'll definitely try the 3M 5000. The regular 3M 5000 adhesive takes about 72 Hours to set while the Quick version thats about 24 hours to set. Once set, it is strong yet flexible.
