Brief Description:  Completed Weighing the Aircraft

Completed Weighing the Aircraft. To get the aircraft level in pitch, the main wheel scales needed a layer of 2 x 4 boards underneath to elevate the scales. This allowed the nose whell to be below the mains but the upper longeron to be level.

Unfortunately, a chock missing in front of the nose wheel allowed the aircraft to roll off of the scales. The reason is not important. The results were. The jack used to lift the left wing to place the scale under the wheel had been moved forward after the lift. The ram had been lowered but not all of the way because it had a resistance to lowering without a load. The aircraft bottom wing skin, just aft of the inspection panel nearest the jacking point, made contact with the jack as it fell from the scales. There was a good imprint of the ram in the skin, but no punctures or tears. Used a mallet on the inside and a steel block on the outside to reduce the indentation. It will need some bondo at painting time. The deformed edge of the inspection opening is pulled into position by the inspection plate. The surrounding skin feels nice and taint with the plate in position.
