Brief Description: Results of Newsgroups Opinions About Gear Chatter
Results of Newsgroups Opinions About Gear Chatter are in. It appears that the gearbox chatter that I experienced yesterday after the high RPM runs is not necessarily an unusual occurence. It can be caused by speed changes, wind changes and other factors. The advice is to run the propeller at an RPM that avoids the chatter. Some say that they run their RPMs at 1000 while a few other stated higher values. My value will need to be determined. But for now, I'm going to set the idle in the range of 800-900 RPM for now and adjust as needed.
