Brief Description:  Sanded Entire Windscreen Fairing

Sanded Entire Windscreen Fairing. I tried to sand the fairing at about 8 hours after applying the Epoxy/Micro/Flox mixture but it was still too soft. It was cool in the garage at night. I returned tosand at about 14 hrs. post application. The mixture had set up fairly hard. I may have benefited from sanding at 14 hrs. but I can't really say. I'm not that experienced with fiberglassing to really know. What I do know is that this sanding goes on forever. Progress is slow and full of doubt and questions. But eventually, the fairing starts to take a recognizable shape. This is encouraging but the question that remains is "What is good enough?".

After I was satisfiied for now, I reapplied more epoxy/micro/flox to the front of the fairing and into any low spots. I have to allow the front to have a slightly extended slope otherwise sanding exposes too much fiberglass up high. I put a thin layer of the mixture on the bow to increase strength, to fill holes and to possibly thicken the middle so that I can taper the front and back edges without exposing glass.

I did remove the top layer of tape and replaced it. I can see a nice edge being formed by the tape buildup. It should turn out nicely. I have 4 layers of tape of different colors to identify when the top layer gets sanded through. In the end, I plan on forming an edge 2 layers thick which will equal .014" edge.
