Brief Description:  Fitted, Drilled and Clecoed Right Wing Tip

Fitted, Drilled and Clecoed Right Wing Tip to the wing. Initially, I trimmed all edges to 5/8" width. This ended up not being enough material removal for the tips to seat well into the wing. I removed about another 3/32" before I got a good insert into the wing with the joggle in the tip fitting well at the winds edge.

The rear of the tip had to be trimmed to allow the wing tip to seat without hitting the aileron or its mounting hinge. This was an exercise in cut and fit and cut and fit and sand and fit until the end result was pretty good. Right now, there is a tight fit of the tip to the aileron in the neutral position. This may change with further finishing of the tip but I am happy with the way that the tip fit relative to the aileron.

The second image shows a distal droop in the tip relative to the aileron, Also, tip is longer then the aileron. This has been a problem for other builders. I will have to split the outboard side and the rear end of the tip. Then with the rear wing tip edge held in alignment with the aileron, I'll re-glass the wing tip. The excess length of the tip will be trimmed to match that of the aileron.
