Brief Description:  Brakes and GPS

This morning I filled the brakes from the bottom up with the specified DOT 4 brake fluid, Clive managed to find an auto accessories place that had an oil can and we used this to push brake fluid from the bleed value back up to the master cylinders, this effectively pushes all the air out ahead of it, and it makes the entire process a non-event. For anyone using the Matco brakes, the only thing you need to do is loosen the bleed value on the brake callipers, the little bung in the master cylinder does not need to be removed or loosened as long as the cylinder is fully extended. You then just pump oil in from the bottom until it squirts out the top, then tighten the bleed value and the job is done. The brakes are very firm; it will be interesting to see just how they work. This afternoon I installed a dual accessory power unit under the center tray that supports the center console and dash. I then plugged in the power lead for the Garmen and powered it up to ensure all was OK. This is the one concession to all the steam gauges in the plane, and so far it's features are very impressive, the unit mimics the entire left side of the panel in one of its display pages and does so much else with ease that it's just great to have. I also sealed the joint between the eye ball vents and the NACA ducts with duct tape, and then used the compressor and air blower to check for leaks, there were a few around the NACA duct which I sealed with a few dobs of Silastic. The vents work well and provide a good volume of directed air. When closed they also seal very well, so I think I am happy, I just to workout how to proivide cabin heat and I think Anne-Marie will also be happy.
