Brief Description:  design and cut out pieces for a rear tail ski rack

Since a lot of my cross contry flying is expected to be trips to Utah skiing I started considering what a rear ski rack would look like. Previously I had researched what others had been doing to haul skis or golf clubs. Interesting ideas ranging from sock systems to metal compartments.

The solution I'm considering is to have a "U" shape aluminum piece at the end of the mid longerons attached with platenuts that has 5 to 6" slots that would control the rear section. Then attaching another "U" shape piece at the transition in the baggage compartment that is on the upper shelf edge. This section would have slots and some type of retaining system to hold the forward ends of the skis. I bent up some aluminum at work to see how the area would fit and if the skis could be inserted from the rear seat position into the tail section. I was surprised at the length of the available area.
I still have concerns with the location of the ELT, Antennas, and Magnometer
