Brief Description:  Rough cut install of Fuselage Steps

Drilled two 1-1/2" holes in the Fuselage and baggage compartment ribs per the plans. The QB has a pre-drilled pilot hole in the fuselage and inside rib where the larger hole needs to be located. You can see in the first picture that the rib inside the fuselage has a 1/8" pilot hole that has not been drilled yet.

Once I drilled the inside rib the step tube had to be ground down about 1/4" inch to stop from going beyond the second rib, picture #2. You can'r really see it in the picture but the metal mounting plate is not quite flush with the fuselage skin yet. This will take some filing and grinding of the internal baggage compartment rib in order to make it fit flush. Also drilled out the right side as well and started to rough in the step.

Both steps will require a bit more adjusting before any rivets can be drilled to the plate to finish the mounting. The step is also made of steel so it will have to be sanded and primed before this assembly is complete. The white block in picture #3 will go around the tube and will be drilled to the Rib and a bolt will run horizontally down the tube when all is completed
