Brief Description: F-712 BH - Shape and tap 712E tie down bar.
I cut the 712E tie down bar to the exact length of 4 13/16". You see, you will be making measurements from both ends of this tie down bar for other holes and alaignment. If the 712E bar is not the correct length then the placement of holes and alaignment will be wrong.
After you cut it to length you taper the end. Then tap it. The plans call to tap it for a depth of 1 1/4". My tap only will do 7/8" or so. This legth of tap was plenty for the hold down bolt that I have. A Jam nut that you use is thicker then the amount of threads showing when the bold is screwed all the way in. So, seems that I'm good to go.
