These little spacers are made from AB (Aluminum Bar) that is 1 1/2" wide and a couple inches long. The length of the spacer is also 1 1/2" long. So, you will be tempted to make a 1/2" cross cut and have your spacer. But, the resulting spacer will have the grain direction in the wrong direction. You see, the grain direction runs parallel to the length of aluminum bar. In image 1 you can see a note that shows the grain must run along the length of the spacer.
