Brief Description:  F-104 BH - Rivet Vertical Bar to center spar.

Here we are riveting in two F-704G center section vertical bars to the center section main spar. One bar at each end. Two rivets each. You use 426-14 flush rivets. Wow, #14. These guys a long.
Any way, the flush side will be against the main wing spar later.

I really wanted these guys to be flush. What I don't show here is my first ettempt that left the rivet proud. I tried to use the C-Frame like I did the other center section rivets. Bad idea. Getting this #14 out was a bummer. After drilling the head off I had to smack it with a big happer. All is ready for try number 2.

This time I clamped the flush side to the back rivet plate. Then back riveted the shop head. Worked great. My brother Steve said "Oh, just buck it normally with the flush rivet set. Don't be shuch a weenie". Well, In time I'lI lhave to set many rivets with the flush rivet set so I thought I should do it that way. But, it takes more talent and I just didn't want to mess these up. So, I did it my way with good results.

But, as seen in image 2 the shop head is very small. You can compare the shop head with the rivet head tool. Very small. I mean really small. I don't have any longer rivets then #14. These rivets just hold it in place. So, I guess it's OK.

Image 3 shows the flush rivet side.
