Brief Description:  F-704 BH - 18 spar center platenuts.

Well, remember all thouse platenuts on the wing spars. More to do here on the spar center section. 18 to be axact. Good news is that the only counter sinking is for the platenut attach rivets. And for these, I now use the NAS 1097 AD3 "Opps" rivets for all my platenut attach rivets. They have a small manufactured had that needs a small depth counter sink. If you don't have these, get em. Avery has a nice kit of these. Love em.

These plate nuts take a #8 round headed screw. I take a #8 flat screw and cut it short so it engages the nutplate threads but not all of them. when you attach the platenut with the flat head scew, it centers the platenut perfectly. I then cleaco one side. On the open side I final drill, counter sink and rivet all in one swoop. Then I uncleco the other side and do the same. I like this method in that the flat head screw keeps the platenut centered and once it's screwed on it does not come off. The bummer is that the platenut attach holes don't get debured.

To counter sink I use an electric screw driver with a counter sink bit. Several turns and it's done. Love it. Fast.
