Brief Description: Drill hole locations on HS forward spar.
I matched drilled the 798 shim off the HS using scrap as a drill guide. Image 2 show perfectly located and straight drilled holes. Now I can attach the shim to the HS spar angle using double sided tape and cleco clamps. Now we can match drill the spar angle through the shim.
I like this method because the spar is not in your way to interfere in drilling these holes. I wanted them perfectly located and straight. The double sided tape keeps the shims on the spar angle after the cleco clamps are removed. We’re hoping for perfectly located and straight holes through the HS angle, HS shim, aft deck, aft deck 1/8” spacer and longeron. This is 5 pieces of material and over ½” in thickness.
Once the HS spar angle is drilled, the HS goes back on the fuselage and we’ll match drill the fuselage through these quarter inch deep straight holes.
