Brief Description: Elevator horns totally out of wack.
I was warned that the elevator horns will not match each other. Wow, not eve close. But, Its normal. But, look close, my maladjustment is a disaster waiting to happen. How is that you say. Let me splain, No wait, that will take too long, let me sum up.
The plans have you drill the horns that go through the bearing. That’s not the potential problem. Later you drill another hole at the end of the horns that attach to a rod end bearing. This second hole can be a problem because of the way my horns are offset from each other. The plans have pre drill the aft most horn. Then match drill the other. Here is the catch. My aft most horn is the horn on the right in image 2. If I use the dimensions in the plans to mark and drill it then the other horn will have an edge distance problem. You just need to adjust the first hole by the offset distance. I had a full 1/8th of an inch offset. So, I adjusted the first hole by that much. I’ll actually drill it later but these pictures show the potential problem.
