Performed ELT self test and GPS test Okay, no issues. When I did the ELT annual test at 4:02 PM (between the hour and 5 minutes after per FAA) the ELT activated but I did not get the sweep sound on my handheld, just noise. I had disconnected the antenna from the ELT per the ELT manual but I had connected the "static supressor". I tried the test a couple more times with no improvement. I called the ACK ELT manufacturer and he walked me through the problem. I had not seen the warning label about not attaching the supressor to the ELT. OOPS.
So per his instructions I disconnected the battery and sent to unit to them for repair on August 24.
I then applied the two registration ID numbers on either side of the fuselage.
