It’s been a while since I could do some painting because the weather has been really poor over the last week, but last Friday evening I managed to put one coat of undercoat on the top of the wing. The next day the wing got rotated and the bottom of the wing got a single coat of undercoat. Once dry both surfaces were then rubbed back with 600 wet and dry to leave a smooth surface. The top of the wing was then given a single coat of paint and once dry again given a light rub back. This evening I again fired up the heaters even though it’s a nice warm night and gave the top surface of the wing its second layer of paint. In image 3 you can see the difference between the rear section of the wing with the topcoat and the leading edge, which is still in undercoat. The leading edge will be sprayed yellow so there is no point in spraying it white at present. For now, the wing will again be rotated tomorrow and the bottom rear section of the wing sprayed. I’ll then mask the rear section of the wing before applying the yellow topcoat to the leading edge. Just to hinder my progress even further, I am heading to Manilla for 3 weeks with work, what’s a boy to do?.
