Brief Description:  Undercoat applied to fuselage

Today was a very big day, and it started out really cold to boot. I had been putting off applying paint to the fuselage until the rain and wind gave up for a while and today was the day. I started by wiping down the entire fuselage with dirt, grease and wax remover, its called Prepsol in the USA, and then gave it another once over to remove any dust etc. before masking up the cockpit and bagging the engine to keep it clean. Prior to this I had lined the floor with plastic sheets to ensure that I don't change the colour of our driveway. Once these jobs were complete, the task of mixing the paint and thinning it so that it would spray without spitting began. I managed to get it right first go for a change. While I was getting stuff ready the lights and fan heater had been bringing the carport up to a reasonable temperature. Once I was ready to spray I turned the hearer off and donned my 3M-spray mask and started spray painting. I have to say the 3M-spray mask is fantastic, not only does it stop you from breathing paint particles, it also removes the smell of the thinners, $80 well spent and it even comes with two replacement elements. Halfway through spraying I had this nagging feeling that the job was going to well, so I stopped to have a good look, but no it was only my imagination, the undercoat was going on well and I was not being heavy handed. As you can see in image 3, the first coat was really really thin, the only area that got extra was the rivet lines and the places where sheets of metal overlap.
