I took my muffer and exhaust pipe to the local Exhaust Center at Castle Hill today to be welded and it provided an interesting story. When I arrived I spoke to one of the installers and showed him what I wanted done, he took the muffer and exhaust pipe into the shop and called one of the other guys over to show him, there was much talking and looking and then the third guy in the shop was called over and again much discussion took place. After a few minutes the first guy came back with the muffler, and I was thinking OK whats wrong what was all the fuss about. He started by appologizing and said that they would not be able to do as good a welding job, quote 'Who ever did this was !@#%^$* good at what they do' end quote. Phew, I thought they where going to say what's this piece of garbage...Anyway they were so impressed they welded the exhaust pipe for me on the spot, 10 minutes and a whoping $20 later the job was done, of course they wanted to kwow what it was for, so I spent the next 15 minutes telling them about the plane and the kit components, some days you have a real win, today was one of those days.
