After talking to Clive about the fairing installation, and given the lack of information provided, I have decided to slot the fairing and fit it flush to the fuselage sides. I have an idea about how I can finish this with the minium of pain and I hope, and end up with a nice finish. I guess we shall see how it turns out over the next few nights. At the moment I can' see why my idea won't work, so I'll give it a go. I have nothing to loose really and if it does not work then I just do it the Zenith suggested way. I guess this is the beauty of being in control of your own project, you have the freedom to make changes. At least this change is not structural.
