Brief Description:  Trial fit of both halves

This evening I continued with the cowl install by firstly cutting and back drilling the two hinges supplied to mate the cowl halves together ala-RV installations. With this complete I sanded the two cowl halves with a strait edge to ensure a reasonable fit. I then clamped the hinges in place and back drilled and clecoed the hinge to the top have of the cowl. The cowl was then removed and the ram ducts re-installed. I was hoping that the top of the cowl might be able to drop down a little further, but that is not to be, as the right side ram duct is very close to the top of the cowl. With this decision made I cut a circle out of the front of the bottom cowl where it meets the prop hub and also another circle where the bottom cowl meets the nose gear leg. It was then time to lift the cowl into place and secure with tape. As you can see from the photos the result so far is pretty good. The ram ducts are a little too small to fit the entire cowl inlet, so I will make up some ramps to direct the incoming air into the ram ducts. Should be fun ????

Strait on, it looks like I'll have to make some ramps for the ram ducts as the inlets are quite large
